Hearth Fires and Civ Levels

Postby Jfloyd » Tue Oct 06, 2009 12:23 am

I was thinking of a great use of the Hearth Fires change in Civ Level. Have each characters hearth's change be based off of their Barbaianism/Civ slider.
Neutral would change nothing, and it's obvious what the other two would do.
This way people could try and fight against the massive effect of villages.

I'm sorry. I have no idea what you're suggesting here. What do you mean "each characters Hearth's change"?

This would be a great idea if there was any practical reason for 'civilized' people to believe they are.

Basically, if you had your slider edging towards the Barbaric side, it would cause a DECREASE in Civ level, which would attract higher beasts and other nasties.

If you had it towards Civilized, it'd INCREASE Civ level.

Awesome idea, easy to implement.

Hmm. There's a very positive value to being a barbarian already. Having it bring down the civ level might negate some of this value, for many people.

How would it negate it's value? Most poeple WANT low civ levels. Increased decay is easy to circumvent for the tradeoff of having higher level animals near your camp.

People with inadequate combat may want barbarism for the str/con boost, but not want a bunch of too-hard-for-them animals moving in next door.

Once you are Blaze, you want level X bears in spawning right at your hearth, but very few of us are Blaze.
