switch camera view

Postby joojoo1975 » Tue Oct 06, 2009 3:10 pm

i'm betting this has been brought up b4.

just chopped down a tree that was in my claim(moving space for farming) and one of the logs went behind my oven, now i cannot pick it up nor can i chop it into boards or blocks, is there work on where we can change the direction of the camera view?

If not, is that a good idea to look into?

or better yet, do GM's(if there are any) have a way to warp to affected player and move things(via console controls). The other tree i cut down, one of the logs fell over my rock, and now i can't move him either, LOL. Though it seems i'm still able to chip stone from it.

Only GMs in this game are Jorb and Loftar, and this is merely a side-project for them. They only help with serious stuff.

What I advise to you is just either 1) Destroying said oven or 2) Leaving the log. It'll vanish after a server crash or something.

Logs don't vanish, as they're in the same category of items as barrels and the like.

The log is probably within the collission of the oven, since you need the exact center to pick it you'll have to live with that log being stuck there. Another solution is to get it's outline and pick it up if it's out the colission range.

As for the rock issue, of course you can still use the rock. The log is just stuck there, there's no mechanism to check if a log may land there or not.

m8, your scaring me, i was under the impression that this game is like in a beta or something. If it's just the hobbie of two guys, will this game be discontinued?

This is a hobby project of mine and Loftar's, it's a year and a half in the making, it'll soon be two. Discontinued? Nah, man.

Edit: Actually, it's probably more than two now. Tempus fugit.

Be nice if when an item is created (like a log) it checks to see whether it can be pathed to and used -- if not, it gets bumped to a new location until it finds one that works.

I'm rather sad about the logs I've lost in deep water too, but I know that someday 2 years from now I'll have enough Con to swim out and harvest them...and that gives me hope.
