Jail

Postby Binoz » Thu Oct 08, 2009 3:42 pm

Jail could be a good addiction in the game. A jail is a special type of claim that can be buildt only by the lawspeaker of a village in village's area. Scents left by thieves or killers can be used by the chieftain (or by the lawspeaker) to move the criminal's hearts of fire into the jail claim.
While a player's heart of fire is in a jail claim, he's only able to log at his own HoF , and he can't use the travel options.
The prisoner's hearts of fire is destroyed (or can be placed in the old place)after an X amount of ingame days (where X is decided when the heart of fire is placed in jail and should be greater then 0 and lower than Y days, where Y is decided by the admins) and the prisoner could teleport himself anyway.
If the jail claim is not protected by walls, the prisoner can left the jail simply by walking away.
The jail claim should be different by other claims, anyone should be able to build stuff on it and pick objects / harvest, so prisoner can be used to work (for example the can produce bread to feed the other prisoners). Structures placed on the jail should also be destructible (ony with the vandalismi skill), so prisoner can evade.

well jail is a good idea, but it would be better if you could rightclick on the heart and choose move to jail cause then after a period of time it could automatically return to the position it was before

It's a Hearthfire.

Sounds ok... but I don't see many people just sitting around in jail for very long. In fact, they might just get an alt and come free the locked-up-character.

It could potentially work, though.
Surprise.

you know, jails have been suggested a lot, but this is probably the best step toward the idea. not saying it's perfect but the "jail claim" is better than anything i've heard previously.

I disagree, Jails would suck very hard in the game, slave collars is how real men do it.

I have to agree with the jail idea. We need some punishment for thievery and assault lower than the death penalty.

Perhaps we could build Stocks for low-class offenders (John stole a chest from Pete. Lawspeaker puts John in the stocks for Half an in-game day).

And then dungeons. Dungeons are kickass.

How about shackles?
When you summon a criminal, you could put shackles on them.

A shackled hearthling could only walk at crawl speed and their black arts would be deactivated, but could do everything else.
The shackle should go off after spending a certain time online, similar to the belief sliders.

It would be annoying but not too boring, and others would be safe from the criminal for a cretain amount of time.
