Bone Axes / Metal Axes

Bone Axes / Metal Axes

Postby Mvpeh » Mon Apr 09, 2012 3:56 pm

Currently, the quality grind that comes later in the world is being restricted by the quality of our cutting tools. I see the bone saws, and the metal saws, and I feel that axes can use the same technology to boost their quality along with saws.

Bone Axes: Will mostly be made of troll bones for obvious reasons, but it will also help newer players get faster, better quality axes earlier in the game with bear, boar, and deer bones. No production boost.

Metal Axes: For obvious reasons, it won't be used to quality grind, but will yield 18 wooden blocks (I goofed, thanks DDDs.) to help make tasks, such as house building, less needy of lumber.

I searched beforehand to prevent re-posting and found nothing but 232 pages of irrelevant threads.

Short and quick, yet necessary in my opinion, suggestion to the game that will allow for much better goods in the Hearthlands, overall.

Sounds good but how about Bone axes yield half their quality in value. So a q300 Bone Axe is adding only 150 to the formula, similar to how clay cauldrons work.

Bone saws give 4 boards, not 5. So 1.5 multiplier times 12 equals 18 wooden blocks. I like the 4 block difference.

I agree, it would help raising quality of faction goods to a further point and creates a further seperation from newbs to experienced players which I feel is needed.

The issue I see with this is that for the most part it makes stone axes mostly useless after the first hour of playing and completely obsolete later on.

Much like other items in the game. I do see your point, though. But stone axe have never been intended as a "permanently" used tool.

And yet there "is" no permanent replacement for them. No skinning knives, no knives "at all", Try skinning an animal with a sword or scythe and get back to me on that. I always wondered about the lack of knives and metal axes but figured it had been suggested 1000 times.....

Right now stone axes are the only thing giving incentive to keep high quality stones (either from smelter or node). If we add in another tier which defeats stone axes, what purpose does high quality stone have?

Higher quality stones = Higher damage with a sling? Suggestion *shrug*

(So it works like a bow's arrows, yet won't cap the sling's damage as i'm assuming in real life all rocks are gonna' hurt when slung at you.)

Curiosities such as Simple Idols and other things along those lines are still present.
