Let villages make dock areas by building a starting piece on some shore, and then making it bigger (something like paving area at shallow water).

The dock could then be used as a public boat hearth fire, which people could set by right clicking it, so that if there IS crash while using boat, the boat and person would end in selected dock.

There should however be no such thing as signposts and teleporting between docks thought... as sailing is fast enought anyway...

And how to prevent everyone selecting only single dock in one villages area? Make it so that 1 tile of dock (expect corner tiles) count as a boat parking slot that somebody has reserved... so that 5 tile consisting dock can only harbor 5 persons ships.

I know that my idea has still some problems... like what happens if there is person on the area where the boat appears while somebody who reserved place there logs on there? that questioon i havent figured answer out yet...

Well, does my idea sound like insanity, or decent idea?

sounds pretty good, especially if there are larger ships coming. as long as they can't be built to cover deep water.
