mail boxes and paper

parchments are good and all, but BIT expensive to make... so i make a suggestion to give people ability to make paper

To make paper you should need 5 blocks of wood, and water, and after that leave it alone for atleast 5 hours, after which the mix could be poured into paper press and be pressed into paper.

To not make parchments useless, the paper should not be good at enduring rough use, so after 5 or so times of reading(or looking it) after writing something on it, it will crumble, after which it can only be be thrown away.

This leads me to the suggestion of mail boxes (and letters) by making a small box where mail could be inserted, and the place where the mail ends and is taken can be 3 tile away from the place the mail was inserted(if people dont want other people going around looking their mail). This would make getting messages to other people less dependand on forums and PM.

So... is my idea insane, or sensible?(other than the waste of trees part)

Expensive to make, Parchment, Really...
A couple of Low Level hunters taking one lvl 1 and 2 animals as they drag back meat and hide...
Throw a couple of those Hides onto the Racks and bobs your uncle low level Dried hide that is shit for leather but great for simple Parchment.

I just use rabbit hides. They, oddly, give 4 parchment.

I like this idea, could add item support so you can wrap up an item and send it too.
Implementing the coin system would mean you could implement some sort of postal fee due to QL, X-Y size, and distance. Ideas, ideas...
Personally it's something I think could be looked at. It would give ink and parchment (or paper, as suggested) some other use.

Why is this the most common suggestion? Really?
Every time I look on the forum, there's a mailboxes suggestion on the front page!
Surprise.

Used to give 4 parchment. - It's just one parchment now. - And fox, sheep and other 1x2 tile skins result in two parchments.

Addendum: In the heavily deforested areas around... everywhere, wouldn't paper be -more- expensive than vellum scrolls?
