Idea: dismemberment

cut off the hand of a thief, that hand can no longer equip an item. requires theft scent, summoned thief, and a sharp tool.
cut off the foot of a repeat offender, maximum move speed decreased by 1 on all terrains types. requires the same as the hand, but they have to already be missing the hand.
cut off the head of someone, use it for proof of death for contract killings (Head of X, Quality Y), or let the head decay into a skull.
skull quality would be the average of the players stats or derived from their total LP or something like that so that it wouldn't be possible to make an alt with the same name as a powerful player and pass it off as the real thing because it would be q4 or something instead of q200. skull quality would also be important for crafting the following:
skull helmet, skull necklace, skull throne

it's a setback but it's better than getting your full-change character killed. with this you would be handicapped, for a while, but you would have ample time to move your slider to trad and then kill yourself.

Actually that makes a whole lot of sense! I think this could reasonably be implemented; however, I think that the foot should come first; the loss of the second hand slot, plus the loss of the ability to use anything two-handed, is a much larger penalty than a speed loss.

Possible issues:
-More sprites, I suppose.
-Will it happen in combat?
-Will it grow back?

Possible solutions:
-Call it "crippling" the limb, so it still exists.
-Maybe? Special move?
-If it's "crippled", and/or some healing magic exists...

That, plus first aid and metal for a cap. Maybe a silver-tipped leg that gives a bonus.

Ah! How about taking someone's eye out? That would halve their perception as a debuff (so that the original score can still be inherited, but each +1 to per only increases your perception by +.5) Maybe it would divide the screen in half or something?

Then you could fully blind somebody and they can only see things in adjacent tiles or something. On the other hand, they always see with full lightness. This would be in addition to quartering per and cha, for all those are worth.

Then you add cloth (and silk) eyepatches and false, glass, eyes that restore some cha.

Hooks, now... They are the only thing that can be equipped in a crippled or removed hand slot, and are simple weapons or something. So somebody with a silver hook, a gold peg leg, a silk eye patch, and maybe a silver tongue and a steel ear or something, would have all kinds of buffs AND would be more trinket than man.

ARRRR!
