And not a single awnser as to why they don't exist. Look I can tell from reading these posts a lot of you don't understand what a private server really is, and that's cool with me honestly. I'm not going to explain that "private server" doesn't imply single player, because frankly it isn't the point. What is, is that everyone is so very quick to judge how everyone who doesn't think like them wishes to play the game, and I've yet to find a single response as to why this isn't possible. I've read all these threads, or what I could of them, and found nothing but quick and witless responses from a large number of people, things that vary between "Omfg noob play minecraft" to "You touch yourself at night!" and not a SINGLE reasonable awnser. To be fair, most people asking about this are...idiots, to say the least. So, to cut a long story short, and ensure my first post ends up with me being banned, (hope it doesn't ban me from lagging into the game too. Err...logging in.), Why, exactly, are there no private server stuffs released? I'd greatly prefer an awnser from someone who truly knows what a private server is, if possible. I swear I think I'll lose it if I see something about "Single player mode would suck." (Because of COURSE it would. But who are you to judge the noobs who want it that way anyways?)

It was explained different times: only the client source is open, the game itself and thus the server code is closed. Means it's the intellectual property of the devs. If you'd likee to run a private server you'll have to code one yourself - you could use the client code but not the graphics...

If you're not aware what closed or open source is: wiki or google will help...

I am fully aware the server is closed source, which is the whole reason I was asking in the first place. I was curious WHY. Thankfully, I actually got an awnser to that too.

Awnser: They want to protect their intellectual property, and generally don't want to release it. Since they did make the game, that is an absolutely solid reason for it, I doubt I'd do it any different in their shoes. Was only curious.

My aren't you a rude one. You are entitled to nothing. If two people wish to create a game in their spare time and share it with others it is not selfish. Reserving how you do something is not selfish either. Quite simply its theirs and you are their guest. As such maybe you need to realize that and act as such. Otherwise just go.

Totally agree, we are their guests and as such we should not complain.... and yet I'm going to just have a little.... well I guess its a whinge....
Ive just come back into the game after about a year, and Im loving the game play, even not too miffed by the lag etc.. but what does upset me is the mess the world is in. Everywhere I go theres claims with rotting bodies lying on their bough beds.. falling down houses, abandoned villages, paved areas in the middle of nowhere that have been picked clean of everything, its just.. well depressing. I do believe that if they marketed this game theres a lot of people who would love to buy a licence, I know I would. There are times when I just want to wander in the wilds on my own, breaking new frontiers, discovering new lands and resources boldly going where no man... or in my case woman.. has gone before.... okay hang on thats going off into one of my own fantasies....but yeah, I can see where hes coming from, it would be cool.

But they made it, they get to say whats what and I would fight to uphold their right to do that, just, well you know, would be cool

Whether it's a fresh world after a wipe or an ongoing devastated like this one it's up to us players what we make with it. Breaking new frontiers might even include having different targets in gameplay like making lost areas looking better again instead of trying to archive "typical old" goals like having the best resources, high q stuff or being the strongest one...
