From what I understand the game is running on pretty decent hardware already but if you're really curious then your best bet would be to contact the game devs Jorb and Loftar directly. Maybe try PMing them or seeing if anyone has seen them on irc.

Donating is always fine but it's not like a deal where you pay to buy something

The rented server used atm itself is ok (sure everything can be upgraded) .

afaik Loftar had plans to buy own hardware and set up at a colocation in Stockholm to have alltime personal access. I don't have a clue how much progress is about that. For hardware + colocation/traffic fee they'd prolly could use every donation.

In my imagination it goes like this: coding new (recode) while W6 still runs with little maintanance only, getting colocation setup with new server, installing OS and setting it up, run tests, get the new code on it, run it and test - if no flaws = W7

but that will sure take some time - so don't expect it to happen in the very near future...

Loftar can fix the lag for free: switch FROM a RAID to a normal HDD setup, revert to the kernel he used to use in W5, and just set the server up to back-up the data once a day.

Sure RAID is used to backup the game in case something bad happens, but what if you can reduce the 'bad stuff that happens randomly' to a pure minimum and combine both SSD and HDD functionality?

SSD for speed data handling, and HDD for backup and storage.
