Boar Roman Centurion Helmets

Postby _Khorne_ » Sat Apr 13, 2013 7:15 pm

I noticed that the black mane on boars look similar to the red thing on Roman centurion helmets.(I dont know what the red thing is called.) In lue of boar helmets, i think it would cool if when you skin a boar you receive that black mane as well as a Raw Hide. And then you could make Roman centurion helmets out of like 5 bronze and 1-2 black manes. Maybe even gold. it could be another endgame helmet like dragon helmets but giving different stats. Like Dragon Helms give Str,and MC, and this could give Con and UA. Or something.

It's called a crest and I think this is an excellent idea.

Also, this. :)
If you could make it with bronze rather than gold it would also be more accessible for the average player - the amount of con and ua received could express this.

I wondered about that afterwards and was going to look it up, saved me some research. :D

Nice, this would look really cool and accessable for avarage players if not made with gold :)
I'd really like to see a better helm for avarage players, this would fit really well.
Hope you have a great day

That looks cool. :) I'd like to have it as a high-tier helmet, between soldier's helm and dhelm maybe. Also +1 to animals related equipments, that would be another reason to hunt anything other than bears.

I agree totally with this. Giving the mid-range players something that buffs and protects will help a lot, also, I'll have a helm to go with that sexy set of Bronze armor. Ungst.

There is some evidence (Vegetius writing - "Epitoma rei militaris" and some sculptures) that legionaries had their crests mounted longitudinally and centurions had them mounted transversally...

The Romans crest was made from horsetail hairs...while the Germanic warriors mainly didn't wear helmets, more of the Gallic and British Celts did - some of them with some kind of Crest (maybe even made of boarhair) ...or something like this wonderful thingie:

Looted Roman Helmets never had been worn but given to highly respected into their graves...

Germanic warriors had a loose fight formation called Boars Head - the Romans copied that... ;)
