Weapons & Armor

Postby LadyV » Tue Apr 30, 2013 3:10 pm

Ive been noticing of late how much the barbarism side of the game is greatly unbalanced toward that side. It much easier and rewarding to be a warrior and raid and loot. Somewhere along the lines civilization stopped being an equal competitor. I propose we introduce durability to both weapons and armor. Now like in actual life you should be able to repair it. The catch is you must have smith skills equal to or better than the item or its q is reduced in the repair.

I believe this may be helpful to equalizing both sides of thought. You would be less inclined to destroy and loot the village of a master craftsman if you knew your weapons and armor could not be repaired.

What are your thoughts?

Most top players make their own weapons this wont change anything just add an annoyance to the game IMO

really? being summoned with permadeath isn't an annoyance?
But I have to admit it's hard to summon some people with their vaults etc.
Hope you have a great day

I agree. Like we really need a new form of no-depth-or-fun-adding upkeep/grind.

youre trying to be peaceful in a competitive game.

pro tip: make murderous friends and don't worry about anything.

I.E.: Eemerald City

Sandbox games are supposed to be about how you want to play. Haven simple does not give that option to peaceful people.

Sandbox games are about options. Just because you can doesn't mean others will let you, nor does it mean you should. If you want to play peaceful then you have three options: Do so alone and at the mercy of any player who has chosen to play aggressively, do so with aggressive friends who can protect you from others, or do so in a large group or village.

Haven lets you play perfectly peacefully. It, however, also lets other play cruelly to their hearts content. One is not mutually exclusive to the other.

I've run many villages where twenty or so of the players never even bought a single combat skill; they just did domestic, peaceful things. It was the handful of us that enjoyed combat that did the fighting. This relationship proved beneficial for everyone involved.

Not all of us have that option of holing up with a bunch of people. And being at the will of criminals is not an acceptable option to any body . The only option left is to alt vault everything you have. I play with I other friend and this world is nigh impossible to live in as a peaceful hermit. If the problem persists we will have to make more and more alts just to hold more stuff.
