Connected houses.

So, the idea is about connecting houses.
Yes, connecting houses, you could connect houses to make it one big building. What I imagine is it would add ability to make more than one room in a house.
Timber houses, stone mansions and every building is just too small.

And what's up with houses having no windows?

That's kinda OK, but think about giant factories and really big storage rooms. It would be just too darn OP.
This might work if you actually would have paid some time for this to happen (eg. use 200 blocks to fill up the gaps, some boards and some boughs to fill the connection) - but it still would look funny because you can shiftplace houses and they still can stay next to eachother making it look like they're connected.

Or making it limited to 4 houses connected or so, maybe?

EDIT : Also, towers might be a nice idea aswell. Buildings that have small rooms but many floors.

No reason to build the towers as you can't see exterior from Hearthlands' houses.

there was another idea some time ago(can't remember who posted it or what it was called) that asked for less generic houses. that idea was using a select box to map the foot print of the building, then based on its size you'd get a sign with the needed building materials...I think something like that would work better for larger buildings than just building 2 then connecting them.

I much prefer a open building option than attaching houses. The question I must ask is if you can afford to build four mansions why can't you arrange things into groups and work with four instead of one massive one?

As for why they don't and why there are no windows: Most homes were small in this period of history as the belief is they are for shelter, not to live in. You were outside most of the time working or doing various chores. Windows were a luxury most could not afford.

What would be so OP about it? If you gather all the same materials for the same amount of indoor tiles added, the only difference is personal preference.

Whatever the case, I'd like more housing options. I personalize my land with paving and planting crops in useless places, but it'd be nice if we could have a little more variety in our furniture and houses (even if only cosmetic).

Making small island vaults even more op, so you can move between your stolen items without any need to go out of building.
What a great idea.
