2 ideas

Here are 2 ideas I thought would be cool to add to the game.

1. Hunting knife specifically for skinning.

2. Rotatable buildings. I'm not sure, but I don't think I'm the only one who would like to see this implanted.

Edit: Sorry, I should of used search.

1. Stone Axe is a good all-around tool but perhaps have the Hunting Knife more like a specialized tool as you have suggested, requiring metal to craft and branches for the handle.

2. I would love to see rotatable buildings and objects. Perhaps making use of the mouse wheel to change directions and an alternative of using the arrow keys.

Proper hunting knife should use horn for handle. Other than that, I approve. Axes in general, and stone axes doubly so, don't look to me like they could be used to skin an animal properly.

I agree. I think, if the hunting knife is ever implemented, using a stone axe to skin or butcher a carcass should severely damage the quality because I am assuming you are ripping and tearing and hacking at the carcass to get what you need, while a hunting knife is more surgical.

i like the idea of a knife as long as it doesn't have to be equipped. having it in your inventory should be enough. and maybe rather than having a penalty for other items used for skinning, the knife could get a bonus. otherwise it's going to be very difficult to get a decent skin unless you're using q100 metal for your knife.

I take umbrage with the belief that steel is superior in edge to stone. The sharpest knives, used for eye correction surgery, were(/are?) obsidian. Stone blades have been around for a long time, because they are sharp and effective.
Rant over, I now hop back off my soap box.

Stone blades can be used for skinning, yes, but stone axes not really. There's a lot of different stone blades, you know.

True. A stone ax is by design not a stone knife blade; both function differently.

It's a bit of an issue of realism. It would feel absurd if I *couldn't*, in any way shape or form, get the skin off the animal just because the blade I have on me at the time happens to be less than optimally suited for the purpose. Now that Q is in I guess it could be represented as stone axes -- or battle axes and swords, for that matter -- giving a quality reduction if used for skinning, though.

Well of course. If you really wanted to, you could skin an animal with your teeth ;)
I never argued that skinning should only be possible with a couple of right tools, merely that right tools should let you do a better job.
