yet another idea bout taming :)

Postby joojoo1975 » Sun Jul 07, 2013 1:50 pm

So, just spent 15+ minutes(I don't know if I'm either Really lucky or the cool down in-between taming boars is a lot less than cows) taming my first pig. And after asking some questions,
I had to bring the sucker some ways(him attacking me all the way) till I got to shallow water, which took the bulk amount of my time this morning.

So what I propose is that quell now takes 20 coins each time you use it.(as well as battle intensity has to be 2 or lower) there is no interruption in combat and you still cannot attack the animal.
now every time you use quell there is a 1% chance you tame said creature. And every subsequent time you use quell you get your odds increased by 5%. IE: 1st attempt 1%, second attempt 6%, third attempt 11%, fourth attempt 16% and so on and so on, so by the 11th time your at over 50% chance of totally taming said beast.

anyway hope you like it, if you can improve it, by all means please reply.

Why?
Oh and, why tame a boar?

To anyone who agrees with him but isn't as retarded:
Why make a long, tedious process even longer and more tedious, and chance based? Worst idea I've seen.

Taming is terrible as is, and this would just make it so much worse.

Well one thing that is alright with this idea, is it sounds like it removes the whole cooldown/wait between quells. That's the worst part of taming for sure, and I know there are some ways to incite the animals to reaggro again but it's glitchy at best.

It seems to trade the waiting around, with the time spent to build up more IP to get the situation to use the Quell action.

You guys sure know how to taim your animals... :/

1. NEVER quill the beast unless you have 100% combat med. Use an alt to jump you till you have 100% Combat Meditation before doing the quill action.
2. Free taim boars as its faster then taming anything else anyway else.
3. Use the unaggro reaggro herd on muflan / auraches for instant reaggro.

Using these said tricks you don't need to worry about taming again. Its done ones at the start of the world. No point making any advanced taming mechanics when its used seldom. I rather see more interesting game mechanics and features instead of fixing taming that already works fine as is.

ok, let me explain a bit more for you two, i'm talking to you nooby and seizure.

this, like AnnaC has stated, takes out the cooldown where you sit around and twiddle your thumbs or use the glitch/herd aggo method.

and for beginning players who do not have a high ua skill this will take an enourmous amount of time. But for your more experienced players(or players who have a some UA), getting 20 coins is no time at all.

when I was playing around with mr. boar I had roughly 20 coins in under a minute. and my UA is low. but go see for yourselves.

If I wanted to rush through this, I could have 5+ attempts in no time.

and I never once used call down thunder.

I was thinking bad idea til i got to Anna's post too...but how about higher values per quell? I mean 10 should be max, but you have 10th quell giving 46% chance and 11th only giving 51%. with all the complaints people have been giving lately about 'luck' and the RNG I'd want higher numbers by 10th quell.
