Dyes and Paints

Paint bucket, or Dye bucket, something to mix animal fats, intestines or something, along with like Ash for black, Poppies for red, Flax for blue/purple, Pumpkins for orance, etc? Craftable paint brush, lots of string and a branch? Paint cabins, boats, dye clothes, etc
Poorly articulated, but I never was one for forums much.
I guarantee it!

Could eventually lead to playermade paintings, brush control could depend on Psy, lots of variables and stuff i guess. Paintings hangable in cabins or mansions, sellable to players, maybe give some sort of buff inside the cabin, +1-10 some skills or something. It would be cool to have paintings up in a mansions different rooms, farming/cooking painting in basement for cheese and herb tables, sewing/surv in main room for loom and stuff, and whatever up top. Man, I should get a cape.
I guarantee it!

Didn't someone suggest this a while back and get shot down?

That'd be weird, in that case. Jorb and I have wanted to do it for like 1½ years or so, so I hope not, at least. :)

Of course, the reason we haven't done it is because it is best done with some programmatic support for changing clothing colors dynamically, and we've prioritized other things.

I believe it was something about "Custom Items", as in, controlling the trim and base colors of robes and other such cloth.

I seem to remember a bit of debate about having Jorb draw each individual color combination by hand, or taking the less masochistic way and using some simple photoshopping...

the thread you speak of was met with derision because of the way the idea was presented, not really the idea itself.

I'd like to see paintings, which could be viewed like maps. Would probably be hell on the server, though.

Well, I have been thinking about the same thing, and I haven't excluded the idea yet. :)

It would be even nicer if maps could be mounted into frames and put on walls & tables and such.

In fact, tables where we can just lay shit on would be nice <.< (and benches)

Are there technical issues with making clothing colors be changed programatically? or have you just not gotten around to it? =P
