Standardization of currency

Postby jcm2214 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 12:17 am

I was wondering if anyone wanted to help set up an in game currency standard . I believe it would help all in haggling and such.

Just go by ramones thread, that's what everyone else does.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I'm hoping to develop a system of standard equations to create a standard price of all items at their represented qualities. Not just a list at certain qualities.

Dunno, I think Ramones does a pretty good job. However if you think you can, then more power to you.

Anything of value has had a fairly stable value for 3 worlds now.

I do not believe that other things (lesser value items) have had a dedicated value though, and even items such as pearls are still a little wobbly.

Do you mind setting an example what you have in mind? Since prices set up for curios really are standard since world 5 started. I'd say preety much same thing for like wallgrade steel, pearls and in old world bulbs/chants/blueberries.

If you had in mind coin system, it simply didn't work out for most of the people with few exceptions.

The absolute standardization of prices with the use of acceptable algorithms for the discovery of prices would eventually allow the production of a representative coin system (in theory).

yep
but have to understand what money is.
in real world money is symbol of how much gold bank owns you in this moment.
in theory if you want you can go to bank and say that you want amount of gold represented by this money

here you would have to do the same
public static class StupidJavaCodeContainer {
/* oh, i love swing. */
class checkOutMyPathfinder{
Image
}}

Coins don't work. You aren't special, you're wasting your time. There doesn't need to be an "absolute standardization of prices". Trading works fine with the current system of points everyone uses. Maybe you should try trading before trying to change it.
