If you have a good memory, you remember that I posted a thread a while back about stone walls.
Well fuck what I said about them NOT being castle walls. We need castle walls. Baddly.
Why? Because, at present, we have an easy to build fence, a slightly more difficult to build but somewhat easy to break into palisade, and a more difficult to build but not that much more difficult to break into brick wall (because anyone attacking a brick walled village is going to have enough STR and such to break down the wall)
So, I suggest a large wall of stone that players could defend from atop, firing arrows down upon whatever attackers... attack.
Corner posts would be watch towers. Gate would be the generic castle gate with the large iron cage thing and a wooden door to boot.
Obviously, such a massive feat of defensive engineering would require quite a lot of effort. As in, a day or two for each section?
I'd say make it only buildable on village claims or perhaps even normal claims, but the massive amount of materials to be put into it's construction would probably limit it's griefing potential.
Thoughs? Comments? Death Threats?
VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT
At present, we have nothing but claims and villages. I believe that, for any meaningful development, we need more phases.
At present, this is my idea:
Village: Pop. 5-15(?)
At 16 population, a Lawspeaker or Chieftain should have the ability to upgrade their claim to a town claim. This would give members some sort of benefit (Town only buildings, lower production costs, etc.)
OR, the Lawspeaker/Chieftain could change the claim to a fort claim. Forts are mainly military settlements, and should provide combat oriented buffs, debuffs, and other various enhancements. In my mind, forts would get a decreased production cost for combat oriented buildings and an increased production cost for everything else.
Changed title to include village claim ideas
