There are ideas I have, seeing as this is the Critiques and Ideas section I'll throw some out there. Some you've probably already heard some maybe you haven't. As far as it goes I can't really be critical about your work cause the game is freaking awesome!
You literally created the game I always wanted to play.. A mix of Harvest Moon and Diablo (sort of).
Do you guys still work on the game? I am going to donate my next pay that comes in, regardless of whether you are or not. I've been playing and it's the least I can do to pitch you guys a bit of cash for the enjoyment and entertainment.
What would be awesome is if you guys could add a few small things to the game. Though when I say that I mean probably gonna be a long list but descriptive.... I hope you read it lol. Honestly if I was rich right now I would inject money into your company, for you guys to implement this stuff and perhaps upgrade the game itself to graphics like the Diablo 3 graphics or Titan Quest. Have a small paid subscription fee. Perhaps 5 bucks a month something like that. You'd run it how u want haha. I had an idea for a game so similar to this years and years ago I was amazed when I found it last year. In a way my game is still different its more of a civilization type thing. But again its just an idea I don't have all the knowledge myself required to build a game so

Stuff such as....
Resources and Objects
----------------------------
- Flint
Flint is a must, stone we already have but flint and flint knapping was a skill, even earlier than trying to chip away at rocks. This could be found on shores and the like, or mountain ranges and such. Flint knapping could be a skill, making flint arrows, flint knives, flint tipped spears, even a short sword. You should be able to use it to quickly start a fire if you have a nugget of metal, making it even faster to start fires. The current time should be slowed down for basic fire building.
Animals
------------
- wild horses, and mules/donkey's
to tame and breed and ride and fight on, build armor for and such, carry goods.
- falcon's
that you could find and tame and breed and use to hunt rabbits. For such a skill and an adventure to get a Falcon it would be a nice payoff to have, the falcon catches the rabbit, there could be a little animation of it leaving your arm and catching it and bringing it back to you landing on your arm again. Could even add something to build for it like the "Falcon Perch" and "Cage"
-Pigs
If you can successfully domesticate 2 boars you can start to breed pigs.
Speaking of Cages
- Traps
Players could build traps like a "Deadfall" with stone and a branch, or a pitfall, with branches any type of knife and after having dug a tile. There are so many other kinds of traps as well that could be implemented. Taking the time out of having to hunt for rabbits and rats, maybe add Squirrels too!
The main idea of trying to survive and then grow maybe even into a small society and farther into civilization was the strive for more free time to do other things. Thus the horses the falcons and traps.
Weapons
-----------
* < represents the type on the left being less strong vs the type in succession. And requires less material
Spear: stave<wooden<flint tipped<stone tipped<copper tipped<bronze tipped<iron tipped<steel tipped.
Lances:
More arrows: Flint<stone<copper<bronze<iron<steel
More swords:same as above
Knives and daggers: same as above. It's just my opinion and I know it makes things more complicated maybe but. You should require a knife to skin an animal. The better then knife the faster you can do it. I think the more complicated the better in this game haha.
Mace;
Waraxes and Hammers.
Crossbow: Would be the costliest and shortest range ranged weapon, having to use metal for bolts and to make the bow itself. It would also take blacksmithing and woodcrafting at high skill to make. But the highest damage.
More Shields: Currently there is only one shield I think. You could add Heater shields and Tower shields, Bucklers for use with slings.
Buildings.
------------
Stone walls that you can walk on the ramparts and shoot your bows from!
Stone Towers of various shapes and sizes
A Stone Keep 3 tiers of sizes and different looks and rooms layouts.
Basements for keeps and towers that can have secret tunnels! That others can dig into from their tunnels!
Longhouses, for community gathers and festivals!
Docks!
Bridges! Stone and Wooden that can be destroyed.
Wooden watch towers and such,
Stone Gatehouse with iron gates.
Creatures (only if the game is to be fantastical.... There is already Hearth Magic after all)
----------------
Goblins, orcs, kobolds, gnolls, giants, trolls, etc. Maybe even a dragon that lives in some mountain somewhere.
Cave bats, crocodiles,
Birds that fly around of different kinds.
Magic
-----------
This can be pretty self explanitory, again if the game was supposed to go in any fantastical sort of direction, seeing as there is a dragons helm and druid hood I think? I could talk about magic spells and practical stuff it could do but thatd take a while.
Sounds and gameplay
-------------------------
if there are birds it could play bird chirping, or near a river you hear a river flow, if its raining hear the rain and maybe some wind. Could add lightning storms that blow wind and hurt crops. So weather effects and environmental sounds would be nice. Music isn't a big deal really.
Continents. Maybe on your next world build it could be even bigger, it seems when I got the game everything had been explored.. But it would be really cool if you separated a huuuuuuuge map if thats possible, into a few separate continents. With this people could build a "shipyard" or "drydock" or just the ship launchers they used to have for the big caravels and viking longboats and such, theyd build them really close to land.. You could widen the rivers a bit too I think this would be awesome.
Anyway those are just some of my ideas. I'd say thats worth atleast 4000 bucks if theres 2 of you, itd take about a month to get all those things in the game no?
The game is already great but I noticed how it's been in Alpha Stage for a lonnnnnnnnnng time, are you guys planning on finishing it or? Is it more of a proof of concept? I'm guessing you guys have to work as well as doing the great job you did and keeping the servers running on purely donations. Which is why I will be trying to donate a certain amount every month to u guys. like a subscription.
As I said if I get my company off the ground I would definitely invest to see this awesome game get even better. The big developers are catching on now. SOE is making Everquest Next which in a way is close to this game. There are some other games out there doing the same as well. I understand they have bigger budgets and such. Kickstarter is out there too.
Anyway's thanks if you read this guys! You've done a great job!
