Right clicking with only 1 available action

Postby sikgamer » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:41 pm

I'm only really requesting this because it's very repetitive having to right click food, then click 'Eat' when a quicker feature would be an option to have right click activate the action automatically if there's only 1 available. It would improve field harvesting too, because there's only one action, 'Harvest'. It already does this when using buildings, so why not with items and other objects?
For example, you go to right click a mulberry tree and choose 'Pick Mulberry' from the list as usual, but instead of having to right click the mulberry and select 'Eat', you just have to right click and it gets eaten and the action 'Eat' pops up for an instant.
I know it's low-priority, but it's still a useful feature in my opinion.

For fields just use the harvest action.(Adventure>Landscaping>Harvest)
But for mulberries i love to see that you click Pick mulbery and it picks until you invetory is full.(Like with Branches)
And for your eating idea that would be good for all foods in general.

I'd love to see this. I have two seconds of lag between every click I make, so eating food is a real pain.

"Just moving this Loftar's Lembas from my inventory to this container here... *right-click* Whoops. OH NO!"

Alt + Left-click would be superior.
The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Even better would be if alt right-click was a shortcut for the last selected option. So if you last picked a mulberry, if you alt right-click you will pick another without going through the radial menu. It could work the same in the inventory.

Taking that a step further, and being a little more technical... Allowing the client to send the server a message such as "invoke radial action number X on glob id Y" would allow us modders to do a lot of fancy things UI wise to remove the radial menu lag, and also allow every radial action to be all of a sudden completely modal.

What do you think about that Loftar?

In that situation, I commonly find myself opening the flower menu on the "next" herb while my character is picking one, and trying to perfectly time choosing the "Pick" option exactly as the first one finishes, which is a bit annoying. What I've considered as a solution to this problem is the ability to "queue" exactly one action to start exactly when the current action is finished, but I'm not yet sure how to best implement that (not least UI-wise). I do feel that having that would make the action a lot more leisurely, however.

Remove / Reduce Excessive Clicking

Radial menus leading to one option should automatically select that option:

Foraging is an activity where such clicking is excessive:

Picking a blueberry? Just right click!

Picking a river pearl mussel? Just right click!

I hope the changes are coming along nicely. I'm excited to see all the improvements to the little stuff.

Personally i prefer the confirmation click. Ive had issues with lag where you click wrong thing and bad things happen. I like how it is, even if its an extra step.

I like this idea as well but what about logs where two options are seen...

The suggestion is specifically for radial menus with only one option. Radial menus with 2+ options would remain as they currently are.
