Little Stone Dagger, Early weapon for Sting.

Postby DanteThanatos » Sat Oct 12, 2013 6:59 am

A little stone dagger made with 1x stone, 1x branch, 1xrope and 1x Bone Glue.
Base damage of 80 at q10. Only functions as a sharp tool and as a Weapon.
Is able to use Sting and Valorous Strike.
If I could I would heal and help people, but in this realm I can't...Wait...elixirs? *Dons Plague Doctor mask*

Stone axe is already an early game easy to make weapon so not sure if we need a dagger too. Also, if there was one, I wouldn't agree with being able to valorous strike with one, as that seems like a pretty powerful attack and doesn't really fit with being executed by a dagger.

I think a knife should replace the axe as the early tool, also I don't think the rope and bone glue would be practical for early game, maybe string instead of rope and glue.

Combat moves would be stab or something similar

Militia sword anyone? The damage is already godawful and punches should deal 80+ damage in the time it takes to get the 2 IP required to sting once...

The dagger is just to be able to Sting and I agree...rope is a bit too much but I think the glue is at least to not let anyone have a dagger like 5 minutes into the game hahaha
Its base damage beign higher than the Stone Axe but would have less utility than it.
Militia is for those who already discovered metal(obviously veterans are able to get metal really fast)
Chop and cleave have really big cooldowns, the dagger beign able to Sting (or Stab i dunno) would remedy that.

Its just to broaden our options more. Even if its a shitty knife.
If I could I would heal and help people, but in this realm I can't...Wait...elixirs? *Dons Plague Doctor mask*

Well, I kinda agree, so it's for people who are going full melee.
It should need a branch, a piece of leather, a bone glue, 2 stones and a string.

Hmm, I thought a little about it, the glue and leather would make the dagger quite good early.
I wanted to make some calcs so read on if you're interested

 Worst case scenario:

Take down a bear, 1 Survival q100 bones
that would make q55 glue? With q10 Cauldron and q10 water? I dunno the calculations for bone glue.
You would also be able to make a q51 Bear Hide.
a quality 43 saw(bear bone q100 and a branch) would make q10 boards(lol) with 1 carpentery
Thus making a q10 tanning tub, plus the water and bark would make q31 Leather.
Then q10 Stone, Branch, String, q31 Leather, q55(?) Glue
Assuming they all only weights once on the averaging of the materials that would make a q21 Dagger.

If the survival functions as a soft cap to that That would make a q10 Dagger
That is, a complete newb with all skills 1 is capable of making a weapon that deals 80 base damage.
Most of these calculations takes Survival into its tools and into its craftings, making the dagger increasingly good as you go on.
It wouldnt be dificult to make a higher quality dagger.
I certainly would make one early on!

(Props to Avulsio and Emerald)

Took 4 hours for the first bear kill.

tl;dr Nab with a dead bear can make a 80 base damage weapon.
