You are too tired to swim

Postby memestream » Tue Nov 10, 2009 10:34 pm

Perhaps we could get this message if we attempt to start swimming with less than a certain % of stamina? I know there's a toggle, but it doesn't make a lot of sense that a hearthling would get into the water when they too exhausted and drown as soon as they took a step off into the deep end.

I believe the plan is to make swimming less lethal, so if they touch it, that's probably what they'll do.

For the moment, just don't use swimming... at all... ever...

Yep, drowned when I clicked over from another window and I stepped into the water with 1% stamina.

I'm still plenty strong though thankfully, a minor setback at worst thanks to the heirloom I was wearing. Got all my gear back to boot. I'm not asking for a retcon or anything, I can handle the fact that I made a stupid mistake. It was just a cheap way for a 4m+ character to get rubbed out.

Swimming should also be impossible to buy before 40 con.

There's a toggle for swimming which you should get OCD about switching off after every swim.

Basically I don't think any amount of catches is going to stop people dying while swimming is so lethal, the fix is to make it non-lethal except in extreme circumstances.

That's what's stupid, I stepped out of the water before(after?) I was dead somehow. Have screenshots to prove it.

This happened to me once when I was playing with swimming on an alt. I clicked the far bank of a river, died in the middle, but continued on and washed up on the far side.
