Aggressive animals should be affected by swamps.

I was playing just a few minutes before writing this and just as I was about to head to my base, I was chased by a boar, he ended up chasing me for awhile and I ended up at a swamp, I assumed that he wouldn't be able to cross the swamp since he was short and all, so I went into it for protection, only to find that he was able to traverse the area as if it were regular grass, long story short, I lost almost all my health, and barely escaped with my life. Seeing as how boars are already a rather obnoxious threat, shouldn't they at least have to be affected by the slowdown of the swamp if they're allowed in it at all?

You're right, animals should be slowed down by the swamp. Seems a bit weird that they would continue with their normal speed while you get slowed down.

But to be honest, animals aren't that hard to dodge if you're playing with any modified client.

Agreed.
On a side note, here's how not to get killed by animals: Be cautious of bears completely. Brink a bucket of water with you all the times, because if a boar aggros you, you can simply outrun it to get unaggro'd and port home. I'm assuming you won't attack foxes (which aren't aggressive and if you aggro them they can't kill you)
So yeah, bring bucket of water and watch out for bears until you have 300 UA.

I agree with this idea.
Btw please note that the red circle in enders client isn't 100% accurate. I have had a boar attacking me while it was at least halfway my range of view.

No, but they eat your shoes! And thorn in the foot can kill newbs. Learnt this in W5 -

As for topic - also agree, swamps should slow down animals too. Tbh, I hadn't noticed it didn't, i've never aggro'd an animal on a swamp or been chased by one onto a swamp either.

Not to be a wet blanket about this, but to be consistant, you should reduce the movement speed of wagons through swampland as well.
