Multiple types of combat (classic style and new style)

People have been complaining for years that the combat has been too clunky or too hard to understand and yet when they understand it they find the exact opposite. Why not fix that? Create a more simplified version of the combat ui (or general combat) to help coax players into the combat so they don't instantly disregard it just to spam slings on boats...

Combat IS broken but that doesn't mean we need to keep the old style when a new one is implemented.

Obviously I'm not saying keep the old one for the sake of having the old one. It's only really because the current system can work (albeit pretty bad) and when it does there wouldn't be much need to completely throw it out.

Why not just have it so that you target an opponent.
Your toon runs up to them and hits them. It does damage based on your str vs their amour.
Then they hit you, and that does damage based on their str vs your amour
Then you hit them
and they hit you
and we all die of boredom because this type of combat system sucks balls.
