Prospection Tool

Miners could use a prospecting tool like a tapping hammer where you tap the walls of a mine and it points out nearby Q rock.
Endgame mining is a grind, you find iron nodes the size of multiple villages and can never be sure if they are worth mining or not.

Mining is not meant to be easy and it should not be. The ease of metal production fuels much combat in the game to much and you have raiders poping up with ease everywhere. To little ore and people quit in frustration. A balanced solution is better.

Well this suggestion wont make getting metal easier, will just make it easier and more interesting to get higher Q.
I also think the size and quantity of metal veins needs to get nerfed, its crazy that you can find a node the size of a big village.

So you want raiders to get better armor and weapons easier. Vein sizes are reasonable as they are. realize to reduce them means you also reduce curios produced with them. That would make progression a lot slower and that to is a game killer. Mining is such a tedious thing to fine tune.
