Tracking and utilisation

Postby daedalus1024 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 9:39 am

Subj says for itself. Tracking type of animal, same as with finding well spot.

Also, it would be awesome, to develop some utilisation technique, for boxes, and stuff you don't need anymore. I am droping aprox 20+ bunny slippers & fox hats a day in the woods. Why it can not be used as fuel?
Same with bones, skins, other useless stuff. Droping it in kiln makes ash (drop%). Ash could be used as soil fertilizer, making plants grow faster (same as bee hive fastens wheat).

I agree on the ash thing, but leather is never useless if you're using leather armor in combat. Also, skins are unlikely to make good fertilizing ash. Bones are frequently used to replace broken bone arrows. Some things have their uses.

That said, yes, there need to be more ways to use various items. For example, bones could be ground at a quern and used to make bonemeals.

I have enough leather, even more than i need, atm, actively hunting in leather armor.
Nine 2x2 hides gives 36 leather, and that is 6 armor sets. 12 leather (3 more hides) for boar cap (optional), and slippers on foot - and that is more that enough for a week(even more) produced in a 8 hours.
If i could put 2 fox hides in one tanning machine - they would be somewhat good - now they just take precious space in inventory while i hunt.
Stone for arrows produced en masse in smelters, or by chipping stone, making bone delivery @ home useless.

But if bones in, as you suggested, quern would be crushed, bonemeal could make fertilizer.
Small skins (yup, i hate em) could make compost, in trash cans (again, fertilizer).
Ash goes here also, and adding love we make FERTILIZER-X. And clean homes :)

you build acompost out of boards and youre able to throw all that different stuff in it, like the things suggested plus al vegetables including seeds and fiber and wheat and so on.

amazing!

Compost could either:
A- Increase growing speed by like 25%
-or-
B- Increase harvest ammount, by 1.
