Thirst bar and other things

Postby sparkeagle » Sat Jun 14, 2014 1:48 am

I believe there should be a thirst bar since it seems that loftar and jorb are trying to make this game close to reality. I think there should also be strength checks in lifting objects, because objects that you can lift like bears don't seem that lift-able and I feel there should be a strength check for lifting something like that. a strength check in lifting would force people just starting to have to resort to skinning and gathering from a corpse on the spot, and it would also give foragers an extra stat they would have to level. I would like animals speeds increased or players speeds decreased since animals in reality move much quicker than a human that sprints. I am making these suggestions not to screw everyone in the haven and hearth community, but trying to come up with ideas to make the game more like what loftar and jorb would want.

Alright Ill try to address all of this. Thirst bar is not a good suggestion. First of all you would have to be lucky enough to land in a broadleaf biome as a new play to satisfy this need. It is the only quick method of making a drinking container. And before you suggest new ways to drink its still not a viable solution. Adding another mechanic I have to monitor is a new grind, albeit slow but a grind.

The show things as being lifted for convenience. Whereas you should be asking is it reasonable to move a item. It may be unlikely to actually lift a real bear but its possible to move it so suspend reality and accept the abstraction. I will say there should be limits on carrying capacity however.

Faster animals? Really??? You do know how much complaining that would unleash, especially amongst new people? Most have trouble with twitch hunting. Let's keep realism in scope with access and fun. It is a game, not real life.

That's fine. Please continue to contribute. Not every idea will be received well but some may. Its participation that matters. Then they know at least what is concerning their players. IN the end they will take those motives and assign their own solutions. Maybe a players maybe their own take. :)

They made it what they want it like, because they want it like this. They don't need you to tell them what they want... Don't mean to sound rude, though.

This is a weird assumption, considering you're teleporting to a green fire made with a dream, increasing your unarmed combat skill by studying flowers and meeting dryads every other day.

Isn't the stamina bar already a thirst bar, since the main way of replenishing it is to drink?

YEAH BUT STAMINA AND THIRST ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS
DRINKING GALLONS OF TEA SOMEHOW ALLOWS ME TO DIG OUT MOUNTAINS OF CLAY IS KIND OF ABSTRACT BUT IT'S AT LEAST FANTASTICALLY REASONABLE

WHO CARES THIS IS DUMB
SOMEONE MAKE A THREAD ABOUT THE JANKY ASS RIGHT CLICKING MECHANIC
I'VE MISSED 100'S OF DRAGONFLIES BECAUSE OF THIS THAT HAD LITERALLY FLOWN RIGHT OVER ME WHILE I SCRAMBLE TO RIGHT CLICK ON WHAT IS EFFECTIVELY A ONE PIXEL HITBOX.
