Boat Inventory

While riding the boat we should be able to open containers within the hold.

Like while we are on the water? Seems wrong to me. It would be much more convenient, but the reason the boat doesn't have an 'inventory' is because you're stashing containers in in it. If this were possible you would just stick 2 cupboards in there and have a floating 128 slot bank.
I once dreamt of crafting beautiful thane's rings... then I discovered Big Bear Bangers. Now I smash beautiful things.

Well, make it so the boat can't move with stuff in onboard cabinets or something. This should work for chests and baskets, at least. It makes sense if you're standing there and you want to look in the urn you're presumably sitting right next to.
Surprise.

This seems somewhat sensible.

Perhaps make the boat capsize if you fill two cabinets in it. DIE NOOBS DIE ;)

Think about it, the boat has to be IN the water for you to jump in, If you store cabinets in a boat and use it as a bank over water, you cant build a wall over that. You are inviting thieves. Also what are you going to do, have countless boats hold cabinets?

All Loftar would have to do is allow for objects to decay within boats and the cupboard bank idea is gone. Instead of finding a reason to destroy an idea, try to think of a way to help it work first.

Why just make it so that you can access cupboards, but you can access other storage containers?

I'm pretty sure boats already decay, so if someone left their bank for too long they'd lose quite a lot.

I guess on further reflection when I supported the notion of a viewable inventory in the boat, I was thinking of larger vessels than the piddly row boat representation.

A similar interface for carts would be really handy too.

Having said all of that, there's a good argument against the idea based on the "realism" idea that you can't really go through crates that are loaded for transport in most scenarios, as they're packed pretty tight etc. So maybe it's more reasonable to force people to unload first.

No strong opinion from me either way I guess
