Cartography

When we are in a location on an open map, our location should be visible within it, this would make cartography a little easier, so we can know when we are in a grid we havent yet mapped.

It would also be very difficult to implement. As someone who has done huge amounts of mapping, I think it's pretty much fine the way it is. As long as you know what map you're on (which if you had the map open you should) you can locate landmarks fairly easily.

Aside from region maps needing the ability to be able to view the original local (because regions suck but this would effectively make them useful in the same way seed bags are and KEYRINGS [HINT! HINT!-MINDFORCE!] will be), Cain is right. The system is fine as it is.

I don't think it would be very fun if maps always displayed where you are on them, indeed. However, we have considered implementing a skill (say "Navigation" or something) that would allow you to get your position relative to a map, possible with some degree of uncertainty depending on some character attribute and/or the quality of the map and the sextant you'd be using. That could make it useful to buy maps to find your way to some place.

Depending on those stats & distance from relevant points. You might also get arrows telling you what direction RoB & your village/claim is.

Warri would love that last one.
