Dams and Bridge Alternates(?) for Hafen

Postby RustyBuckitt » Sat Apr 04, 2015 7:44 pm

I know, I know, "But RustyBuckitt, that was recommended way before!" Well, like with canals, I never found one that portrays my interpretation of a dam.

Everyone wants bridges, so how about instead of building something to cross water, we drain the water?

PROs:
Drain rivers to a Shallow enough state that you can walk across them with ease.
Contain water in certant locations.
Can be destroyed by a fresh alt in the first 24 hours (when made of wood, and un-dried stone dams), making griefing harder. (Good thing for village owner).

CONs:
Can't walk across.
Decay quickly, constant maintenance needed, requiredrequires Bone Glue To repair.
Can be destroyed easily, especially when made from wood.
Can be destroyed by a fresh alt for the first 24 hours (When wood and un-dried stone dam) making griefing harder. (Bad thing for the Troll).

Feel free to leave feedback, but send hate to me in PM's

I dont like the idea of anything being built on the river unless boats and can travel through/under....... So no....

Also it was told to us already that the system that run HNH(Hafen) would not support this or something of that nature. One said he would like to do it in the future and has ideas for it but not at this point nor the introduction of HAFEN.... But maybe later on.....

I think bridges would be a nice addition but very unwise and impractical. They will single handedly be the source of much griefing just to deny you easy of travel.

Dams although a nice idea are something that would require very high skills to create. One wrong move and that river you want to divert or shallow out could back up against higher terrain and who knows you could lose your village to a flood.

Fine manipulation of the environment is a few centuries off. :)
