Chantrelles

Postby WaitingforHaven2 » Fri Jun 05, 2015 10:11 am

Lately a deep cultural gap has surfaced on the forum. In a moment of confusion it was revealed that many people are horribly uneducated about chantrelles.

But fear not for I offer a solution. Implement the true pleb's choice of mushroom instead:

The common mushroom

It is difficult to imagine that people won't instantly recognize it. Even those who have never tasted this mushroom before will be able to deduct its nature from its shape - very much unlike the yellow mutant mass that is the chantrelle. Indeed only the blind or illiterate could be prone to bewilderment when encountering this fellow in their travels through the hearthlands. On top of it all it also tastes better.
(seriously, chantrelles are disgusting)

Oh but surely you have been to a supermarket and marvelled at the sight of a few beautiful bottled specimen. So in regards of the functionality of my suggestion you would recognize the very embodiment of a mushroom. As far as their natural occurence is concerned... hum... the name suggests they must be common... r-right?

To be honest, I haven't seen one of those in nature either for the same reason, kek

Uh... what? I fear a new cultural gap has just opened.

if it is about the pleb thing, I count myself as one - this wasn't meant as an insult

But the girolle is also a good idea. We can use it to shape cheese after these mushroom abominations instead of gathering the real thing. This might also help to reduce a significant amount of confusion amongst beginners.

I suggest finding hambergers in fields and square fishs in rivers.
Growing french fried in fields and finding coca cola in wells of course.

Spare yourself from further embarrassment by keeping your mouth closed.

How very rude. But okay, I'll take my hat and so something productive instead.

Why bottled?
Don't they have fresh mushrooms in your supermarkets? ('Fresh' meaning 'loose' - they are still not exactly what I would term 'fresh', lol)

Oh no, they do sell them fresh too. It just so happens that I actually prefer them bottled and that is what came to mind in that moment. No peeling and no cutting required and for whatever reason I prefer the taste as well. Like I said, the whole pleb thing wasn't meant as an insult. I'm not exactly a gourmet myself.
