Oh no, they do sell them fresh too. It just so happens that I actually prefer them bottled and that is what came to mind in that moment. No peeling and no cutting required and for whatever reason I prefer the taste as well. Like I said, the whole pleb thing wasn't meant as an insult. I'm not exactly a gourmet myself.

I've never tried a bottled mushroom, maybe I should. I adore mushrooms, I get them in as many meals as possible. :D
And don't worry about the 'pleb' thing, I can see it wasn't meant to be insulting, I'm only laughing 'cos the gif/comment is funny. :)

Until now I've never even heard of bottled mushrooms. Are they bottledin the same way as olives?

Well first of all its not the same time setting as modern day else we would have tanks,

Chantrelles are a common mushroom in parts of Europe. It sort of represents all mushrooms at the moment. (hint: Jorb & Loftar)

Bottled mushrooms are rather flavorless. You have to perk them up with other flavors. And no they are not bottle the same as olives. They are packed in water bath. Which leeches out much of the flavor. However if your on a budget they are much cheaper. :) I only tend to use them in one specific casserole but even then I have to dress them up with complimentary flavors.
