Poll: Allow cupboards to be placed in black...

Postby Gauteamus » Mon Dec 07, 2009 5:26 pm

... cabin/mansion spaces.

I know I reported this as a bug in this thread, and while it looks rather ugly with herb tables, looms and whatnot strewn about the walls, the ability to place cupboards in the walls made sort of sense both aesthetically, "realistically", and for making storing easier.

This is not a real poll, but what is the general consensus out there?
-Make Cupboards/Wardrobes(?) placeable in the black walls!!
-It makes more sense (both for gameplay, and probably from the code side) that all buildables are treated the same in regard to cabin blackspace!

The black area is technically the area outside the cabin, beyond the wall. If you placed something in the black space it would, in a realistic sense, be outside. But since it doesn't appear outside, it's in some secret dimension beyond the cabin (Holy shit D:).
But my point is, being able to put wardrobes in the void hardly 'makes sense'.

People are actually using wardrobes?

Of course! It's so much easier to just go home, get to the wardrobe, select the clothes, make sure everything moved over properly, then leave, and get to where you where before, than it is to swap out your axe, saw, and pack for a bow and quiver manually.

Of course, that's assuming that you have multiple copies of your best equipment.
Surprise.

Like they will ever agree to put the cupboards back into the walls. That made life easier for the hearthlings and that is a no no.

The fact that you could place all but one little leg of a loom in the black space, thus making it about 1% of its actual size, was hilarious and ridiculous.

It was awesome, but it was stupid, so it had to go.

EDIT: Also, probably, you can't enable the cabinets to do it without enabling every other object as well or doing some pointless code overhaul for something that doesn't make sense.
Come back two hours earlier.
