New Food

Postby thacher » Tue Dec 08, 2009 10:20 pm

I was eating some chicken pot pie, and I was like hey, this could be a good food item, there could even be more of them, like deer pot pie, bear pot pie, or even Snipe pot pie. Also are my ideas stupid, cause if so I wont post em any more lol.

Your ideas are horrible, reading your thread actually caused my IQ to drop and prevented me from ever curing cancer in the future. You prove that there is no God since considering all the sperm that was in your father's testes, you're the one that got through.

No, I'm just kidding.

Pot pie was already suggested I believe. And we certainly could use another use for onions besides piros.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

I'm sure there are some slavic/germanic/norse traditional dishes that involve baked meat-breadish dishes with onions in them. That said, I think meat/sausage stews are also quite the staple.

Also, Ham & Cheese sandwiches anyone?

speaking of such varied recipes makes me long for a more flexible method of crafting again...

think of the soups you could make if the game let you add whatever meat and vegetables you wanted instead of being limited to a handful of similar recipes that are laid in stone

Have you proposed a system I've not read about or this is just a hankering with no specific focus?

a more flexible crafting system like the one you suggest would be great, and would go along well with another suggestion, or maybe it was something loftar said, about learning recipes. you could start out with the most basic crafting recipes, like "dough" or "axe" and a few various others necessary for starting out. others, like swords or something, could be learned through the quest system loftar and jorb have mentioned wanting to do.

even more recipes, and variations on the basic recipes could be learned via experimentation, with a chance to fail, possibly based on a relevant skill or something. if you succeeded you would learn the recipe, and could teach it to other players, possibly with a chance to learn it or not. and even if someone told you a recipe on the forums/irc/wiki, you would still have to experiment until you succeeded in actually producing it. we'd end up with a much wider variety of craftable goods, possibly with some of the localization j&l have talked about, as i'm sure most people would guard their secret crafting recipes closely.

it would be nice to have more tradable items that not everyone can produce. one of the problems with trade right now is that you're basically just trading labor for the most part. with the exception of extremely high quality goods, or things that require semi-rare resources (jewelry), pretty much everyone can make everything.

that discussion took place here: viewtopic.php?p=35850#p35850

i might have swayed him a bit, who knows. dont like the idea of even more specific recipes that you need to learn individually, that seems very backwards to me
