Wine Racks :: Fucking epic LOL.

Postby Lothaudus » Fri Dec 18, 2009 11:00 pm

A thought processs...

1. Hmmm... Let's build a wine rack. I haven't actually bothered with one of those before. Let's see what it's like.

2. It only takes up one tile of space. Ok. I'll put it next to my cupboard.

3. There. Now let's take the wine from the cupboard and put it in the rack...

4. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

5. Destroys wine rack. Builds a cupboard instead.

Suggestion

Make wine improve with age along similar lines to cheese.

Wine left outside; caves; mines; cellar; inside all mature at different rates and into different types of wine.

Shiraz; Cabernet Sauvignon; Merlot; Pinot noir; Chardonnay; Sauvignon blanc; Champagne.

Different wine adds different FEP / Travel Weariness / Happiness / Stamina / Hunger.

Option a). Wine must be in a wine rack in order to improve.

Otion b). Wine is normally matured in barrels (where different wood produces different results) so really, it should happen in the barrel (Wine barrel outside becomes vinegar) and just make Wine Racks hold 100 bottles plz. Oh no wait, they'd still be useless cause I'd just drink from the barrel. :(

Wait until you realize wine kept in buckets in that cupboard is even more space efficient...

It was bad enough when there were only chests and bottles, but you could still store 4 times as much in a chest as a wine rack.

Right now, a cupboard stores just about 30 times as much wine as a rack (160 L in buckets against 5.4 L in bottles).
Come back two hours earlier.

Except that...wine types are contingent on the Grape type and growing location. I totally like they Idea of 'aging' bottled wine. It just can't be contingent on glass Q because the best damn glass doesn't come anywhere near what possible with just a decent wine press/barrel and some half ass farming.

ALso, .6L bottle of wine is some lame ass shit. I buy pretty decent stuff and it's always 750ml or 1L We also need gallon jugs.

Aging would be pretty good at a rate or 1 quality per IRL day, no? I mean, you won't be getting quality 200 wine from quality 20 wine anytime soon.

Wine racks are for display purposes, not storage.

I don't think there's anything wrong with cosmetic furnature

Yeah well, I didn't want to suggest fifteen different varieties of grapes. :) Though reading loftar / jorbs ideas in another thread, they seem to want different climates and such, so maybe that's the way they want to head. Grapes planted in warmer areas produce X type of wine, Grapes grown in other areas produce Y. So you always plant "grapes" but the region you plant in determines the outcome. Would be a nice way of spreading the varieties around.

You could even have different woods (Oak Barrel vs others) make an effect and yeah, maybe the only way to age it properly is in wine racks. Otherwise racks and bottles just serve no purpose. As a transportation method they're useless due to their low carrying capacity and the general shittiness of wine (you have to drink a lot or make pretty decent Q to make it worthwhile). Of course, perhaps the more aged the wine is, the better it becomes at reducing weariness.

I like that. Wine that's been bottled and stored in a Wine Rack in the Cellar increases in Q by 1 for every day it's stored. Where-as wine stored in a barrel or bucket will simply stay at the Q it was put in at. There'd be a point in setting up wine cellars then but wine racks really do need to hold more in general. I mean, hello (that one's 9 rows of 6 for 54 bottles).

this has been discussed a lot, and lots of ideas have been thrown around... i'd definitely like a re-do of the winerack, i mean what we have right now is like the kind you might have on your kitchen counter or something, not a full piece of furniture...

Not to mention that those bottles are tiny.

Yeah, I want boxes to put my wine in. That would be much more realistic too. Honestly, who buys wine in bottles? Bourgeois swine that's who.
