Alright, now I know most of you are(were) in love with dirt roads. Amirite? I know I was. Dirt roads were the shit, mainly because they were pretty easy to make. I vote they should be brought back. It would be rather simple, take your average plow and make a nice long stretch of plowed land, then select your little "Dirt road" option in Landscaping, then click on the plowed land to smooth out the plowed land and make a dirt road. An option to make them harder to make if that's too easy(which I, in no way, see how it is) would be to put clay over the plowed land.
Or, maybe instead of a new landscaping option, a new plow system. Go to build, tools, Plow. It would be just a handle and an empty frame. Then go to crafting, tools, then plows. You have the option of either making a wooden farming head, metal farming head, wooden flattening head, or metal flattening head. After crafting said head it appears in your inventory. Then, pick it up with your mouse and right click the plow. You got yerself either a farming or roadmaking plow. If you want to switch between the two, right click your plow, and then remove head.
This would allow you to make a flat building surface without going through the stamina eating hassle of chipping stones for a half hour. Flattened dirt surfaces would not go back to forest tile, and instead of the natural 4x decay rate, it would only be 1.5x decay. Not to mention the slight speed boost while hauling shit on a cart.
Also, on another note, bring back clay pits pl0x! Maybe place a well on a dirt patch, then clay comes out?
