I think that it'd be more versatile to just let us drag-select multiple items and then use the existing commands on all of them at once.

Agreed, a must implement.

While we're on the subject of reducing tedious actions and inefficency:
- "Feed" option for trees that produce food, so players don't have to click 50+ times to eat just 20 apples/mulberries.
- Directly fill a tanning tub from a well or other water source instead of the bucket dance. Also automatically add tree bark and the largest dried hide you have to the tub if it's in your inventory when you do this.
- A "transfer" button on the construction building screen that moves the materials it requires over with 1 mouse button press instead of several. (Hit "transfer", hit "build", and you've saved yourself 3 minutes for something else)
- An 'undo' version of the above (obviously won't work on building materials that were already used) that either dumps the items into your inventory, and/or onto the ground.

My organization OCD thanks you for this.

Possibly also re-arranging your inventory in order to fit what you want picked up into your inventory; so you don't walk up to a rabbit, right-click it, and then wonder why you didn't pick it up because there wasn't a perfect 2x2 square in your inventory -- because a previously obtained 1-tile item occupied that space.

A button that, similar to the plant grass button, plants your seeds into their respective crops.

all good ideas but this is just turning into a sedimetary game then doing one click to do all the actions. for planting possibly a click and drag and youll plant over that area to plant the seeds

a way to automatically pick up ammunition (arrows) in a 3x3 square centered on your character would also be nice; no more right-clicking 40 times for 40 arrows. there'd be a count-down timer that would be based on how many arrows there were in the 3x3 square, and if you move or get attacked the auto-pickup cancles (disabled entirely if you're in combat at all, really) so it couldn't be abused to auto-pickup arrows someone shot at you.
