Chicken Domestication?

Postby MasterCatfish » Thu Dec 31, 2009 8:22 pm

I was sort of expecting this to be in the works, but Jorb's most recent announcement seems to say otherwise. It would be a huge disappointment if chickens remained at q10 for the rest of eternity. I assumed this would be done, as chickens would be more easily domesticated by newbies, thereby giving them access to a valuable trade commodity (dex FEPs).

Plus, I was looking forward to eating eggs and having nicer quality beds.

The only real issue with chicken domestication is that I had an animation planned for the coop where the roof would jump up and feathers splurt out when a hen laid an egg. The animation system doesn't really support that atm. We should probably fuck the animation and just do it.

I agree, there is no need for some athestic animation, just leave it simple (probably be less bugs that way). I don't think many of us long for some dazzling animations to these things. Any of the 1000 cookie cutter mmos can dazzle with techy anime, I prefer the meat of gameplay over dazzling graphics.

Mayhaps. That doesn't mean that I don't care about what I do, though. ;)

Well on that note. As I was brainracking trying to decorate our town, I realized just how limited the choices were, aside from trees, we have 2 crops thaty can double as "decorative flowers". And a statue. What about some athestic things to decorate our towns with. Benches, columns, gothic arcitcture, gazebo, bird bath whatever trinkets of design can be thought of. I could realy get into some amazing arcitectural towns all which can be done within the bounds of "Germanic arcitecture". And before any one calls that too "girly" remember the greatest arcitechs in history have been men.

Would we have to drag the chicken around behind us for an hour, waiting for it to pounce on us until we had successfully cowed...er..chickened...it into submission?

Also, what sort of ancestor beast are we talking about? Something like...this?

Jorb, I think you guys should go through with it and add in the animation at a later date when it works a little better.

I support this statement. For what that matters.
