Compost Bin

It would be nice to be able to build a compost bin. You could basically toss any organic material into it like low quality seeds, straw, earthworms, crops, etc. After a certain period the compost could be dug and dropped on crops or under trees to improve quality of yields.

Hmm see the problem would be you would soon have pople making super compost to make super crops/trees and then you would have a unbelievably high ql crop that would raise whatever food you decide to make makeing the fep rates go up exceedingly and therefore the vet. players would be stronger and the newb players weaker.

You can already raise crop q to infinity. The best I've seen is q200, but I'm sure there's better out there.

That's not really as much of a problem as you think. currently food is more or less softcapped by oven, fuel & water ql. i think the best ovens and farmers/bakers out there can't make very much better than ql160 (4x base).

...and therefore the vet. players would be stronger and the newb players weaker.

That's sort of the point of 'character development'. But I do agree that having a massive margin for character development available isn't conducive to encouraging balanced PvP in a permadeth game. However, that has nothing to do with the OPs suggestion.

I don't think fertilizer should be about improving crop QL unless you are summarily nerfing it to soil ql. I believe the devs will not do this because it takes one more localized resource out fo the game. There are, however, other uses for fertilizer. Such as primitive explosives.

Couldn't it just produce soil? Averaging q with the materials it has naturally.
