Metal Arrows

Postby GrimReaper » Wed Jan 06, 2010 1:48 am

Purpose
Metal arrows will do more damage than bone or stone arrows.

Materials for Crafting
Metal arrows will be crafted from nuggets and branches over an anvil. A nugget plus 5 branches is needed to start the crafting as it will produce 5 arrows. Iron, Steel, and Bronze nuggets will be the only metal used for arrows.

Some Thoughts
If metal arrows would be made over an anvil they could achieve a high quality since smithing might effect them.

What would be the advantage of metal arrowheads? More damage, I assume?

Rly you want a single nuggest to make a arrow... if that happens metal going to be a lot more.

GrimReaper wrote:I was thinking of some uses for metal and since i use a bow a lot it would make sense to have some metal arrows. Metal arrows would be a bit more difficult to make than normal arrows because they will require metal and an anvil. I think combining a nugget and a branch would create an arrow over an anvil. Only iron and steel can be made into arrows.

a nugget should probaly make 10 arrowheads. and why not bronze?

[It seems like your suggestion implies that the player can use metal nuggets and a lower number of branches to get a lower number of metal arrows. This is a good way to piss a player off, as they soon realise that they're losing metal by doing this. The requirement should be a strict "nugget+# branches" and not a lazy "yeah you can have less branches and you'll get fewer arrows" At least, that's what it sounds like.]

Also, a tool axe made from (2? 3?) bone+branch, and a saw that's entirely made of metal (less reliance on branch quality at the cost of more metal used)

what i was saying was that you should make the arrowheads separately, then attach them to branches to make an arrow. this would require a slight change in the crafting system ui

This is why I suggested making arrowheads from coins. I admit, the need for the coinpress is odd, but it would use the correct amount of metal.

Not at all, the crafting process will not start unless there is a nugget and 5 branches available in the inventory just like any other crafting item.
