Professions

Postby Jfloyd » Sat Jan 16, 2010 7:02 pm

Idea: Chosen professions are easier to level up, but cannot be changed.
Example: In the character creation room, a box pops up with a proposed set of professions such as, cook, farmer, tailor, and smith.
These are only basic skills, so things like survival and the combat skills aren't easier to level.
The idea would work like this:
You choose cook as your profession, so instead of 200 points for the first level in it, you'll only have to spend 150, the next 225, then 350 etc.
It'd make specialization a bit easier, and make people stay on that path, with the ability to still go elsewhere.

Dumbass, They're already planning this and calling it credos.

I don't see why 'Peasant' can't be a credo.

What I suggested was in mind with credos, more as a determination to want to be that profession.
If you're willing to learn something, it's easier to learn.

This is true, they do want to limit it.
I only said it shouldn't be changed because otherwise it'd be easy to just change it once you grind one stat, then jump to the next, so you have a multipurpose character...
Although, if it had a waiting time, of say a week of solid gameplay to change it that'd be reasonable.
