An issue of food

Postby Raephire » Sun Jun 14, 2009 8:01 pm

My biggest issue with food is that there are surprisingly few alternatives to raising strength. It's boar meat or boar meat.

There seriously needs to be more food alternatives to increase strength, Soy or Tofu at least.

Also, I noticed on the food chart that bread and apple pie increase con but are only 2xp points apart from each other.

Butter may be unlimited from cows/milk but it is that extra step that makes it ridiculously inefficient to increase con when you can just kill a cow, make sausages, and bam, twice as fast.

It would be nice if you could get all the stats from baked goods.

We need pot pies!
Meat, Bread, and Veggies!
Potatoes and Peas should be ingame plants too.
Along with killable turkeys and chickens :3

bear also raises str.

I guess bread is the life power of the day. Hard work thanks to the bread results in developing strength.

While I'd be happy if I could raise my strength with baked goods, I'm equally happy that there is a stat that I need to trade to raise at a decent rate.

Try to keep in mind when making these complaints that in order to make trade worth while, not all items should be easily accessible to all players.
See my thread on trading steel for boars.
If there was a farming/cooking equivalent of steel then I'd be in heaven (lembas?)

The current FEP system is creative but seriously marred by the distribution of points among available foods. Most people are going to have a very bread/cow heavy diet which severely inflates the Constitution stat and thus nerfs progression of other stats. I personally am trying to catch up to 32 Con with all my other stats, and really Agility is the only other one that goes up easily.

If you've got carrots and wheat, you can raise perception pretty quickly by nomming carrot cake all the time.

all stats are easy to raise given a fair bit of time except for str, which requires boars or bears. Both of those take hunting
