Weather, temperature, seasons

I'm surprised that this hasn't been discussed to death already (or has it? didn't find much on it).

the possibilites are endless, and i'm too lazy to list them all atm ^^

for starters:
- rain has a positive effect on farmig/growth
- rain can create small pools of water and fill a cointainer with water
- rain and temperature drop at night has a negative effect on players
- negative effects can be cancelled with campfires, shelter, clothing, etc.
- thunderstorms have a bigger negative effect and cause damage

Of course the weather/season additions make very little sense currently. And they wouldn't contribute to the 'fun factor' of the game at all. But it would be fun to hear the lamentations of all the newbs who'd freeze to death.

In his defense, this forum has one of the worst search functions I've ever seen.

Oh, and I'm all for seasons and a major overhaul of agriculture (permanent vineyards, fewer harvests with bigger yield, weeding/water/other crop maintenance etc.).

Please god no more maintenance. Cows are bad enough as it is. You should be able to take a break from the game for one week and not find your village completely ruined.

Well, it's only intended to somewhat replace all the harvesting that gets removed (harvest should happen maybe once per RL week, or even rarer). The general idea is that you should be left with *more* free time. And unmaintained crops should still grow, but just take a small hit in quality.

I only found 2 threads about seasons:

But I don't know if seasons are really a good idea - Seasons would be hard to implement, they are slow and predictable, annoying for newbies... Seasons also sound much like a no-brainer to me: Stock resources for winter, use resources during winter. Rinse, repeat. Is that really worth it?

Simple weather effects like rain on the other hand could imo add greatly to gameplay and immersion.

seasons are important, they kinda complete everything and are the basis for a decent weather system. decent doesnt have to be too complex and too difficult to handle.
you always have at least one season. atm, its summer. all the time. think about the possibilities of different weather during different seasons.
its clearly not very easy to implement without making everthing tendious. however, i like the idea of having to prepare myself for the winder and stuff like that. im sure the devs could find a good way.
