Or you could, I don't know, read a bit about the game, perhaps? Learn about Hearth Secrets, and have your friend join you at your hearthfire?

It's a noob mistake that you made, yes, and one that I made when a few friends and I were starting out - but we actually bothered to learn, as opposed to... this.

While I don't think a teleport in game is called for, there are situations that it isn't possible to get to a friend. Having to learn to build a boat to cross the miriad of rivers before you can meet someone. Maybe a way to go back to the launch room within the first hour of play or something or one time.

Also a warning to new players when they click the ladder to leave. It is easy to leave without even knowing you could use the trapdoor or secret word.

You can enter your friend's hearth secret at the NPC in the starting room, then you'll spawn near him.
