wonky mouse

Postby kimya » Tue Jun 16, 2009 3:57 pm

hi dev team!

for me right now, harvesting hardly makes any sense, cause its soooo slow, the mouse is totally wonky, everthings slow, and im barely using 50% of my cpu. theres something wrong and it totally spoils my fun. cause im a farmer, i love farming, but i cant do it properly in a reasonable time.

in a couple of games ive seen the option to enable a "hardware mouse" or something like that. dunno what its all about, all i know is that the mouse is way more accurate when turned on. maybe this is possible for h&h too?

please please please, can you do anything to let the mouse respond as it should?

love,
kimya

Mouse acceleration yeah. I too wonder if it's fixable because there doesn't seem to be that much of a fps drop.

honestly, it keeps me from playing as im tired to wonk around in the wheat for (ingame) hours. eeeverything takes long.

i dunno why, but it gets dramatically slower in the field and in the town, while in a forest or in the mine its perfect. i cant believe its because of my computer, its quite new...

Could you provide me with some more information? To begin with, what video card do you have?

Also, if you bring up the various time profiles (with the ` and ~ and ! keys), could you tell me what it is that is taking the most time?

The global one for me with 34ms. Wheat seems to be worst of all crops.

sure!
ive got a core2duo 2,2gh, a GeForce 8600 M GT, 4 gigs ram ,though 32bit.

im not sure if i interpret it correct. if i say something gets more than the other, i mean it gets more space in total.
so when im outside in the field, the ilm prof shows that black needs almost everything while blue gets only a little.
mv-prof shows black a bit, green more than black and light blue gets the most. theyre more or less doubling from color to color. there seems to be some red but its only a line, hardly to see.
the glob prof shows the light blue basically get everything. not much left for the red, other colores hard to see.

hope thats enough, else just ask. thank you! last time i harvested i felt like a drunk catcher in the wheat

love,

spending some time with the profiles. it looks like drawing takes about 6/8 to 6/7 of the global time.

Hm. Your hardware is lots and lots better than mine by all accounts (in particular your GF 8600 graphics card compared to my GF 7200).

I just realized that it might be a completely different problem, though; one that I haven't encountered in quite a while, but that I have no recollection of having fixed, either. To help me differentiate between them, can you do another check?

If you hover the mouse on the different colors in the profilers, it should tell you the exact timing values in a tooltip (the first number is the time for the entire vertical line you're hovering over, and the second number is that of the actual "color"). Can you tell me some kind of approximate values for the totals and light blue areas in the MV and Glob profiles? (It doesn't have to be very exact, but is it in the order of 1, 5, 10 or 20 ms?)

in the glob, the total is between 60 and 70 and the light blue one is between 55 and 65. while im not moving, but moving doesnt change a lot.
in the mv the total is between 40 and 55 and the blue one constantly between 20 and 23

i just realised that at some point in the beginning everything works just fine for like 5 seconds, then the fans start like crazy and everything slows down. but doing something else while playing doesnt have a lot of impact aswell, like watching a movie, another java program and things like that.

Heyho!

Have you had time to analyse it? someone else posted some time ago that he had built his fields outside his haven cause it always gets so slow in the fields... guess im not the only one having this problem.

ive tried running it under latest knoppix, but im afraid its unplayably slow. i thought maybe the crappy win7 was the reason for my problem, seems not...
maybe be the grafics card?

i also suggest to move to bugs...

/edit
HAHAHA it was slow in the mine, guess what happened when i climbed to the ground!
thats definately been the slowest game ever played
guess ill stick to windows for now...
