dry food

Hey, how about some dry food, we could build some new sort of drying frames and dry fruit and meat. Than you could make a dry food bag (3 leather i gues), with 6 slots for dry food. This would make a hunters life a lot easier, aslo we could have more tipes of berries to be found on the grounds and some nut trees. And just to think about the posibility of a fruitcake :o

mmmmmmm... fruitcake
I loled in your general direction

You mean, like a table you can leave vegetables and, herbs out on to dry? Maybe even grapes, for raisins?

drying and salting meat and fish would be cool. But since the meat in the game dose not seem rot (that I have seen) its not necessary. If they implemented drying racks I think they would have to implement food spoilage.

they do actually plan to introduce food spoilage at some point, so of course drying, smoking, salting and pickling would all help to preserve food

The point is that you could carry dry food in a special container, so you could carry more when you went exploring or sth. (people did that you know)
And yes i know about herbalist tables, but it sounds funny to put meat in a herbalist table.

A better solution would be to convert 2 units of un-dried food into 1 dry unit (2 Grapes -> 1 Raisins and 2 Meat -> 1 Jerky), the dried food would have slightly less then twice the hunger & FEP or the un-dried stuff as well on longer shelf life, this eliminates the need for any extra containers while still giving the player a significant volume reduction.
