Deconstruction

Postby JustasJ » Wed Feb 17, 2010 4:46 pm

Why not get some items you used while building stuff while destroying the same stuff? For example, getting 3-4 boards after destroying a cupboard would be nice since in many case you have to collect the same resources over and over again while not being able to find use for your old ones. A simple ability to get some of the resources back from destroying things would be nice.

typically one only destroys things if the quality is low and you're replacing it with something better...

Yeah, because nobody rips the seams out of articles of clothing in order to take the fabric and make something else out of it. Nope.

Destroying a bed to get the cloth from the blankets so you can make an awning for a market stall? Completely impossible.

Replace it with tearing an oven apart to get bricks since some noob placed it in a wrong place. Or tearing a well down to get some stones that are a nightmare to gather and getting your rope back. Or just looting stone mansions or chests for metal bars and you sort of get my drift. I think so, at least.

Even if the mats are of a Q not up to par then they can but stored for repair materials.

That said it makes vandalism a lot more like theft....You have to consider the PvP aspect of these things.

Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea. Indeed; if someone smashed up your chicken coop for lumber, then the lumber still exists, and might be tracked. As it is, you automatically loose the resources to anything destroyed.

I think it's completely reasonable if you, perhaps, get either all the material back at half the Q or 75% of it at 3/4 the Q... something like that.
Surprise.

is usefull wen you have a old stuff useless and need some materials where the q isn't so necessary (like cabin) and need lots of boards. Regain a little amount of it detroing a boat. It was an example (and thief that steal low q stuff...?..nahh..not more than now anyway) :3
