Swamp mechanics suggestion

Make swamps and wetland more useful and interesting:

Make it so swamps, or parts of swamps can be traveled by (small) boat. Where rivers cut through swamps, boats can go from one to the other.

Boardwalk can be built on swamps to allow the movement of carts and the placement of buildings. Boardwalk can decay back into swamp, or can be removed with a landscaping action. Boardwalk under buildings doesn't decay until the building is destroyed (by decay or otherwise).

New plants and animals that live in swamps would also make the area more interesting, and worth exploring.
Animal ideas: snakes, alligators/crocodiles, ducks, turtles
    Plant ideas: mangrove, lotus, reeds/cattails

Terrestrial animals should be slowed down when moving through swamp in the same way that characters are.

sounds good except for alligators/crocs, but perhaps there's an appropriate swamp beast

Yeah, I couldn't think of any dangerous swamp animal that might live in Europe besides snakes. Snapping turtles? Lizardmen?

i cant think of a large predator for a european swamp, but you have to remember that silk isnt from europe either, and last i checked, Ents don't run around like hippies  but snakes would be sweet, espically if you could sneak them into containers, and when someone opens it...BAM snake in the face!
