Great Idea about claims

Postby Subway » Wed Jun 17, 2009 6:04 pm

What you could do dear devs, is making a payement system in the game, pay like 1 US Dollar for a week of total secure claim. Noone can enter (if the player dont allow kins to enter ofc). Then you would get some of a economy spinning and people would be happy, then thiefs could only steal from the players who choose to not pay. Something like this is made thru out many online games. Maybe also if you pay a little money you can build things cheaper? Or even build things that none-paying players cannot!

These ideas according to myself is great. Please share thoughts about it.

While I want to support the devs work on the game (when I can afford to :) this is not a good way of going about it. If it came to it, I'd happily pay a one-off fee or a reasonably priced subscription, but this kind of two-tier system would kill what makes the game awesome.

Yeah i guess, and the thing with thiefs is, they are pumping up the fun in the game really, its like.. reading in the newspaper about some tragedys, i want things happening around me. The thiefs gives the game some excitement. They are bad yes, but i say that the game would be very boring without them, its fun to look at pictures where 3-4 rangers killed a couple of culprits. Call me sadistic, but its fun watching chaos!

Not happening. We have discussed ways to make money from this game -- and it would be my wet dream come true if I could work full time on it -- but payments, if they were to happen, will never affect in game variables. That would ruin everything that I like about the game. If payments were to happen, which is not going to be anytime soon, they would most likely be in the form of a voluntary premium account. Maybe with cooler login screens, or something essentially meaningless like that. Our zero dollar budget has worked fine for a year and a half, and as long as it does, nothing needs to change.

And yes, the game would be a lot less fun without the thieves and the grief. Dark clouds are what makes you appreciate a sunny day.

Quite frankly, I hate games with systems like that. Things always end up becoming balanced towards those who pay money, and eventually the game becomes unplayable for those who cannot or will not pay.

If ever a system similar to that was implemented in H&H, I would quit with all due haste.

Hmmm. I was actually thinking penis enlargement banners and diet supplement ads, but this might be even better.

Wow, as much as I would like to support the dev duo, I'm glad that they don't want to go in this direction.
A DF-style shameware (like freeware, but you feel bad if you don't donate) would be entirely appropriate.
Surprise.

Yeah, I don't like this idea at all.

I think a donation system would be worth while for you guys to put up ASAP now that you have players. We appreciate your effort and would like to show it. But being able to 'buy' things in the world..... terrible. Sorry subway!

Jorb I like this. Maybe have a donation button, and depending on how much you donate, you could get different menu styles for your accounts.
Maybe for 5$ a semi-medieval one, with stone working and such. For 10$ you could get a forest themed one. :3
I would donate for that.
