The last straw.

Postby Cajoes » Tue Mar 02, 2010 1:21 pm

Straw is starting to become quite a bottleneck, considering its only known source is the humble wheat grass. Which as of the time of writing, remains a undiscovered seed type. While it is of a limited use and excessively abundant in any well developed agrarian commune, it is neverthenless stupidly hard to aquire in the early game. So I guess what I'm verbosively trying to put forth here is..

Can we has bullrush and reeds to supplement our insatiable needs for plant fibers and straw and add a little fauna to our waterways and wetlands please?

I really like the idea of a straw-yielding herb found in swamps, especially the now-useless leechless swamps.

As an added bonus, bullrush roots and sprouts are edible.

I really can't think of other potential sources for straw though. The papyrus plant only grows in like, the mediterranian AFAIK

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd love to eat some Cat Tail Root Soup.

Also, +2 for scuzzers.
Surprise.

Why were wild weed fields and the like completely removed, anyway?
I liked them, it also made the wilderness more diverse. Bring them back?

Just though I'd bump this.

Because the lack of wheat saddens me.

because 1. they couldn't make wild spawns of new plants if they were generated with the map 2. useful crops got harvested leaving latecomers with nothing 3. huge fields of onions and hops everywhere

Sure, but i don't see the reason to completly remove the old system instead of having the new system as an addition to the old one.
While we're at it, dirt roads were nice too. So why remove working features from the game, when players actually like them, or at least don't complain?
