Open Containers in Storage

It'd be nice if you could open baskets or chests or whatever while they are still inside carts/boats. So you dont have to keep moving baskets back and forth just to store items.

(maybe we shouldnt be able to put cabinets in vehicles to begin with if were not supposed to use them that way though)

Agreed on both counts.

Weight based inventory / lifting capacity solves problem with cabinets in boats.

Weight based boat limit also solves it in a more hilarious manner ;)

Vehicles have their own inventories, equipping containers makes them larger?

You can't lift a boat if it's got too much stuff in it is what I was thinking of, to fix the problem of teleporting a boat with two cupboards worth of stuff in it.

You'd still be able to get away with high volume sailing, but then you've got to have some way of offloading that stuff to a land capable transport when you reach a dock, which is a mechanic I wouldn't mind seeing too much

I think this is a great idea. This would also be handy for containers in lean-tos. To deal with cabinets, just make them so they cannot be opened while in boats.

Maybe. It'd be simpler just to prevent them from being stored in the first place though.

i don't see what the problem with high capacity boating/carting is. The fact that you can't take the cupboards out of the boat/cart is enough for me.

makes chests a bit superfluous since cupboards are so much easier to build and larger besides

would need to give chests some benefit so they remain desirable, like locks

With the wagons this would make the inventory screen too large to deal with.

Likewise, we could just click on a container inside of a boat/cart/wagon and get a radial menu with the options "Take out" and "Open".
